The foundation of your psychotherapy and recovery
Psychotherapy is used to treat emotional problems, substance abuse and mental health conditions.
Psychotherapy includes a wide range of treatment techniques to treat psychological problems and some psychiatric disorders. Psychotherapy remains one of the most effective treatments for substance abuse, depression and anxiety.
While there are many types of psychotherapy practiced, all psychotherapists utilise the relationship between client and therapist as the vehicle for transformation. A therapeutically beneficial interaction is one where mutual trust exists and where the goal of treatment is to ultimately help a client change destructive or unhealthy behaviours, thoughts and emotions so that their quality of life is improved.
Experienced, highly-qualified therapists
At Istana Jiwa, psychotherapy plays a central role in the healing process. For this reason, we only employ highly experienced, mature, and fully qualified therapists. Our therapists are innovative, creative and dynamic, and they are committed to working from a supportive, compassionate and respectful stance. Your therapist will encourage you to change and grow in your time and your own unique way.
Our therapists will give you the information to learn about yourself, the insight to understand your issues and the skills to manage your life in a healthy manner.
We will help you to understand underlying issues associated with your presenting condition. For example any substance abuse is usually associated with some form of trauma and corresponding depression and anxiety.
If your life has become unmanageable and unhappy, psychotherapy can help to shine a light on the parts of you that you habitually avoid or from which you are dissociated – including your strengths.
Some of our therapists have experienced what your are going through and others have spent many years in recovery from addiction. We can bring our personal experience to the table, we can relate to you and we are unclouded by judgement.
I travelled from Los Angeles to Istana Jiwa on the recommendation of a friend and in my mind, it was a leap into the unknown. I was completely unprepared for how cosmopolitan, competent, professional and caring the staff were. From the moment I was met at the airport to the moment I left I felt cared for and understood. This was an utterly life-changing experience, I never thought I would say I loved going to rehabilitation but I actually did.Maggie, LA
For my sins I have been to a few treatment centres around the world, nothing comes close to Istana Jiwa. I went deeper and achieved more in therapy than I have ever gone before, I made peace with meditation and yoga - both things I have resisted in the past and both I now practise in daily life. I feel transformed, thank you.Rob, London
I went to Istana Jiwa to reset my mind and change the way I was living. Stress had got the better of me, I was partying too hard and I was close to blowing up my career and losing my family. Amazingly I found some like minded souls in the Istana Jiwa team, people who had lived my life in the corporate arena, who understood me and helped me recalibrate my life. I now feel better than ever before, and I even gave up smoking there!Simon, HK
I started with Istana Jiwa in pretty ordinary shape; marriage had collapsed and I was self medicating with anything I could find to suppress the deep sense of despair and depression. The program transformed me – physically and emotionally. I spent 60 days in the program working on finding myself and I left feeling genuine hope and a real fortitude to tackle life again.L, Melbourne
