About Istana

Istana Offers Ultra Private Bespoke Rehabilitation for Depression, Anxiety and Substance Abuse

Istana is a luxury private rehabilitation service created for clients with real-world responsibilities and reputations to protect; people who can’t enter a public environment for recovery or simply feel they would not thrive in a group therapy environment.

Our clients are individuals, families and organisations from around the world who require the most effective treatment conducted in an environment of privacy, discretion and comfort. Over the years we have treated many high profile clients from all walks of life, none have ever even been identified as clients of Istana or even been noted as entering treatment.

We opened our first facility in Bali, Indonesia in 2018 and since then have added Ibiza and Barbados to better serve our global clientele.

Why one-to-one treatment works. A letter from Dr Jeremy Alford, Clinical Director

Mental health accounts for about one third of adult health problems globally. Our continued search for a more effective solution has led us to the conclusion that working with one client at a time set in the most luxurious and naturally conducive environment for healing sets the stage for maximum treatment efficiency and sustainable recovery.

Our unique approach makes Istana the ideal location for any high-profile individual to find refuge in order to address and overcome the complexities of addiction and mental health.  We take great pride to ensure that every client that comes to us is treated with the utmost privacy, adhering to the highest standards of care and excellence in an environment away from glare and pressure of their usual daily routines.

All clients are carefully assessed prior to their arrival so that we can ensure that their program and treatment is specifically tailored to their need. A complete schedule is devised with our team of experts that are carefully selected to offer our clients the treatment and recovery that each client deserves.

Although there are positive benefits to group residential treatment services for addiction and mental health, we know that single client rehabs are as effective, if not even more effective due to their highly customised nature. Having to work with other clients in the same service can prove to be very challenging and not always adequate, especially when client issues are mixed.

Our mental health is the most important aspect of our life. Without it, we would not be able to live a full and harmonious life. It is therefore the reason we take our chosen bespoke service to the highest level in every area in order to ensure that all our clients are firmly set on the path to sustainable recovery. You are welcome to contact us to arrange a private conversation with Jeremy to discuss how we can help you.

Single Client Rehab Vs  Group Rehab

  • Istana’s one-to-one practise makes you the entire focus of your treating team, you will never have to compete for attention to get your needs met
  • We won’t shoehorn you into a pre-determined one-size-fits all program. You are an individual with unique issues and requirements and your program will be customised specifically to meet these needs
  • Individual therapy allows for a deeper connection with your psychotherapist enabling you to access, address and resolve your core issues in a safe and private space
  • Personalised and private activities of your choice avoid the sometimes demeaning “school outing” feel of group activities and excursions. Private sessions and activities allow you to truly develop new interests and hone your skills under the expert guidance of your teachers
  • The privacy we offer gives you the physical and emotional space to recover without the adverse distraction of a group environment comprised of people with whom you may have absolutely nothing in common
  • Instead of having to share a room (or even communal space) you have your own private 5 star villa with facilities to cater to your every preference and requirement. This completely removes any concern or stress of being seen in the public eye and naturally enhances your comfort and privacy levels
  • Your personal chef will create a delicious and healthy menu that will aid your recovery and cater to your personal preferences

Recovering from addiction and mental health is a process that is sensitive and unique to each individual. Whether you are seeking to recover from alcoholism, substance use, gambling, sex or various eating disorders such as bulimia and binge eating disorder, along with other associated comorbidities from anxiety to mood disorders; we create the most effective conditions for this to be possible along with an array of complementary therapies and  evidence-based practices.

Aftercare is an essential part of recovery. Our mission is to ensure that every client we see has a carefully devised aftercare plan as this plays an important part in the recovery process. While we know that every person is different, we also know that there is no quick fix cure. The quality of support that individuals receive after they leave our service is vital to their recovery. We know that ongoing support helps decrease risks of relapse, this is why we look after every clients every step of the way after they leave.

I arrived at Istana Barbados in a terrible condition, alcohol had brought me to my knees, I was on the brink of blowing my professional reputation and losing my family. The medical team nursed me through a long detox and the rest of the team put me on the path to recovery. Two of the team flew back to New York with me and stayed for 2 months to help me adjust to this new life. From beginning to end a life changing experience from the best team of people. Just fantastic. Thank you.

Istana Jiwa is a place for profound and permanent transformation. I found the team to be working at the highest level in their fields. Many have also been on the dark side of addiction and come out the other side; they, if anyone, know the pathway to release. And that’s this brilliantly conceived, bespoke rehab concept which accommodates you in a 5 star private villa with every whim catered for, then drills down with proper therapy for lasting change. Coming through addiction is brutal but here there is shelter from the storm - a beautiful place to rest and get the space to heal, with 24/7 care and love. It’s expensive but what price sanity?

I started with Istana Jiwa in pretty ordinary shape; marriage had collapsed and I was self medicating with anything I could find to suppress the deep sense of despair and depression. The program transformed me – physically and emotionally. I spent 60 days in the program working on finding myself and I left feeling genuine hope and a real fortitude to tackle life again.

I went to Istana Jiwa to reset my mind and change the way I was living. Stress had got the better of me, I was partying too hard and I was close to blowing up my career and losing my family. Amazingly I found some like minded souls in the Istana Jiwa team, people who had lived my life in the corporate arena, who understood me and helped me recalibrate my life. I now feel better than ever before, and I even gave up smoking there!
Simon, Hong Kong
For my sins I have been to a few treatment centres around the world, nothing comes close to Istana Jiwa. I went deeper and achieved more in therapy than I have ever gone before, I made peace with meditation and yoga - both things I have resisted in the past and both I now practise in daily life. I feel transformed, thank you.

I travelled from Los Angeles to Istana Jiwa on the recommendation of a friend and in my mind, it was a leap into the unknown. I was completely unprepared for how cosmopolitan, competent, professional and caring the staff were. From the moment I was met at the airport to the moment I left I felt cared for and understood. This was an utterly life-changing experience, I never thought I would say I loved going to rehabilitation but I actually did.
